Not the first time
In 2005, a Southwest Airlines jet ran off the end of runway 31C after landing at Chicago Midway. It shot through a perimeter fence and onto a road, killing a young boy in a passing car.
18 of the 103 passengers received minor injuries and the plane was substantially damaged, according to the NTSB accident report.
