The faux evergreen tree isn’t just for Christmas.

LEGO – which is celebrating its 50th birthday in Australia this year – marked the occasion at Martin Place in Sydney on Wednesday by unveiling a lifesize pop-up forest made of the toy bricks.

The exhibit is the first for LEGO’s nine month campaign in Australia – called “The Festival of Play” – and part of a calendar of events coming up that will feature the LEGO bricks.

Those hoping to take a walk through the forest this weekend will be disappointed… it was ‘chopped down’ today (Friday).

LEGO says the forest will sprout up again later this year in other locations in Australia.
