Virgin America and Banana Republic host in-flight fashion show
Cabin crew took a back seat while models hit the runway (of the fashion kind) on the flight to LA.
Last week, regular travellers and fashion bloggers took to the skies for an in-flight fashion show on board Virgin America, organised by Banana Republic.
The cabin aisle on the flight over from NYC to LA – was turned into a catwalk at cruising altitude, as models strutted down the carpet to preview four looks from Banana Republic’s new ‘Mad Men’ collection.
The new clothing range is inspired by the 60s advertising era in New York, largely made popular by the American TV series, Mad Men.
Both the airline and fashion brand live-tweeted the promotional event from the plane and images of the new collection were even advertised on the plane’s exterior.
Instead of watching the usual seatback inflight entertainment, passengers discussed the latest outfits while sipping cocktails.
As well as the obvious marketing benefits for the airline and fashion brand, Virgin America says it got involved to bring some glamour back to flying.
The airline is inviting people to tweet their glamorous travel pics using the hasthtag #VXglam.
