Travelling often reminds us that there’s no place like home.

But Helsinki airport in Finland is trying to bring travellers the next best thing, with a new lounge in Terminal 2 that’s designed to feel like a home from home.

At Almost@home lounge, travellers can borrow a pair of woolly socks at reception, pick up some reading material from the book corner and flop on the sofa in a living room style environment.

The lounge also has its own ‘homely’ kitchen, dining room, a play area for children and a quiet work area.

Lounge access includes complimentary food and a selection of soft and alcoholic drinks. Source: Helsinki-Vantaa Airport

The lounge is non-airline-specific and open to all travellers booked on flights to Non-Schengen destinations.

Entry to Almost@home lounge costs €45 (£38) per person for a maximum three hour stay, or 15,000 points for Finnair Plus customers.

Children under the age of two are admitted free.

Opening hours: 6:30-23:30.
