Pull your own pint at Manchester airport’s new self-service bar

The perfect spot for a pre-flight brew, or potentially your final destination if you miss your flight.

Flights out of Manchester could be about to get messy interesting.

A new bar and eaterie where you can set up a tab and pour your own pints will open at Manchester airport’s Terminal 1 this month.

The Grain Loft will have self-service ‘beer stations’ and sound pods where you can dock your iPod and listen to your own playlist.

Punters will be able to keep track of their boarding time on flight information screens – as long as they’re sober enough.

The bar will specialise in locally sourced beer, and some of the ales will feature in the food served, such as the ‘beer can chicken’ – a whole marinated chicken, slow roasted over a can of Thornebridge Jaipur IPA, an Indian Pale Ale from Thornbridge brewery in Derbyshire.

Who said airport food had to be boring?
